This episode introduces the story of Cinderella, and the first flashback prominently featuring Rumplestiltskin. How does it hold up after rewatching it? I love it! The only issue I have is Cinderella herself, mostly with how stupid she is to not think about the consequences of signing the contract and just taking the cheap way of leaving her old life! And Henry obviously annoyed me again! Anyway, I loved the twist that Rumple took the place of the Fairy Godmother and how it cleverly takes elements from the Rumplestiltskin fairytale with the firstborn deal. The crossover with Snow White was also well done and I liked seeing the princesses being friends as well as Prince James helping Cinderella and Thomas capture Rumplestiltskin and lock him up in the mines. Also, the Storybrooke scenes were well done with 19 year old pregnant Ashley Boyd (I feel sorry for her being pregnant for 28 years, must've been hell!) who wants to keep her baby despite signing adoption papers for Mr Gold. I liked that she wanted to prove to everyone else that she can be a mother because of Emma inspiring her and managing to get her to keep her baby by owing Mr Gold a favour (which would be very important in season 2. Actually, it's funny to think if Emma didn't help Gold find Baelfire, he'd still take Alexandra) I also liked seeing more of Emma getting to know the town and taking the job at the sheriff's station, pretty much meaning she'll be permanently living in Storybrooke! I think the references to Cinderella were also well done and I wish we could've seen more of Ashley's character and being with her true love, Sean (Prince Thomas' counterpart) Overall, one of my favourite episodes of the season!
What a better way to start off Cinderella than Cinderella meeting her Fairy Godmother?
Wait a minute, THE FAIRY GODMOTHER IS DEAD?!
So Cinderella is still a dumbass and signs the contract without remotely thinking what Rumple could want in return!
Love the dress!
Haha! 'Every story needs a memorable detail'
Nice hair & make up Ruby!
Woah, fanservice much!
OK, that was pretty badass!
So from what I gather, Regina uses Mac lipstick, like me!
OK, Henry's face when seeing Mr Gold was pretty funny! It's odd to think at this time we'd never think he'd be Henry's grandpa!
Love Emma's blue jacket! Still prefer her red one, but I like this one too!
Aww! Another fairytale wedding!
Is it me or is Snow's dress too modern?
Love the dress!
Cute reference & foreshadowing...
Oh, how convenient that she's in labour near the town line!
That's not creepy...
OK, that was a smart move!
Poor Cinderella...
So this must've been the start of the GoldenSwan shippers which quickly faded after Rumbelle were introduced!
Aww! Cute reference to the slipper!
So Graham and Regina are fuck buddies...?
