Once Upon a Fangirl...: It's Not Easy Being Green

Now with this episode, I admit that I was a bit prejudgmental. I thought it was going to be a rehash of The Miller's Daughter (2x16) because of the promo photos and press release, but it genuinely surprised me! It was nothing like how I expected it was going to be! Zelena, discovering her mother Cora abandoned her, sent her away to Oz and she has a half sister, goes to the Enchanted Forest so Rumplestiltskin can teach her magic and so she can convince him she can cast The Dark Curse. Of course, it doesn't go well for her as she takes a liking to Rumple and her jealousy for her half sister starts to show when he wants Regina to cast the curse, despite Zelena being more powerful. Refusing to let Rumplestiltskin use the slippers which sent her to the Enchanted Forest after rejecting her, she returns only to discover the Wizard is in fact Walsh (from 3x12) and now has a plan to chnage the laws of magic and change time so that Cora never abandoned her, offficially starting her reign as the Wicked Witch of the West. Meanwhile in Storybrooke, after Neal's funeral, Zelena confronts Regina and reveals her true self and they have a showdown in the town square as she reveals her jealousy to Regina and vows to take away everything she has. And Zelena is officially a psychopath, did I forget to mention that?
When getting down to it, her plan to go back in time so Regina was never born is just immature, childish, selfish and bratty! If anything, she's lucky not to have been raised by Cora & if only someone actually told her what she was like! I'm glad Rumple didn't pursue her like everyone expected from the promo and photos. Yes, she may have a crush on him, but as he says 'I have that affect on women (probably one of his best lines!) I loved seeing some of Oz, but I felt like we didn't see enough of it or the world (maybe we'll see in 3x20 'Kansas') The Storybrooke scenes were also good with more interaction between Robin and Regina, Tinker Bell's return, Henry being sidelined with Hook and a brief Rumbelle reunion! That's all I can really say, but it's still a pretty good episode overall! As for the next episode The Jolly Roger, let's just say I'm not excited for it besides Ariel's return!
