Snow Drifts

This is the first part of the 2 hour season finale, I would have made it one of both, but that would've been way too long & boring! Anyway, this takes place after 3x20 & everything is all happy for everyone, until they discover Zelena's time travel curse has been enacted and that she's dead. Thankfully, Rumple covers up that it was him by altering the CCTV footage so that it looked like she killed herself in order to enact it. Celebrating the birth of Mary Margaret & David's son, Emma walks off when Hook brings up the fact she plans on going back to New York to everyone. When he follows her out, they both discover the curse and accidentally fall into it, going back to when Snow and Charming first met as it was the moment she was thinking of as everyone was walking about it at the diner. Accidentally changing things so that her parents never met at the time they were supposed to, Emma and Hook go to Rumplestiltskin where they discover Snow's planning on leaving on Blackbeard's ship, but she doesn't have the money she would've used from selling the ring if she had stolen it at the time she was supposed to. Managing to convince Snow to steal the ring at King Midas' castle, Hook switches places with his former self while Emma seduces his past self and present Hook grows so jealous he punches his past self in the face. Afterwards, they go to king Midas' ball under the aliases Prince Charles & Princess Leia (*STAR WARS THEME*) while Snow attempts to steal the ring only to be caught by Charming. To make things worse, The Evil Queen also enters the ball and Emma is arrested for helping Snow get away.
Now, it's hard to review this as it's the first part because everything just felt whole as 1 TV movie, but I'll do my best! So what did I think of the first part? I enjoyed it! We got to see more character development from Emma and even a bit of her life in the foster sysytem as she's never felt like she's home, even with her family in Storybrooke. The best way to describe it was a fairy tale version of Back To The Future, with action, fairytales, nice visuals & even characters returning like Red/Ruby, Abigail/Kathryn, Marian, Marco/Gepetto & even King Midas! The scenes with Emma, Hook & Rumple were also funny to watch and I loved how. Also, even if they altered things, there were no plot holes which I was very worried about when I first heard they were going to do it. Same goes to the second part in the altered past. I also enjoyed seeing Lana as the Evil Queen again as we haven't seen that side to her as Regina is now a good guy in Storybrooke. And even if people argued it was Captain Swan the Movie, I didn't mind much since it was overall fun. Yes, I may really not like them, but still, seeing OUAT do time travel was great & well written! And do you know waht the odd thing is? This is only about the first half! I would've liked to have seen more of Storybrooke as we only saw it for about 15 minutes & a bit more with Belle & Rumple wedding planning, but I still loved their sweet scene mentioning her father! Considering he'll appear in 3x22 according to the press release, will he give her away or is it Charming & Abigail getting married? Well, you'll have to wait & see in the second half, appropriately called There's No Place Like Home!

So, how are they gonna get out of this? Well, at least her parents have met each pother! Now time to get them to fall in love at the Troll Bridge...

Sorry, I know I'm overdue with the reviews since Season 3 has ended, but I've been busy with exams & will continue to be for the next month, so this & the finale reviews will be quckies & I'll also be doing a Top 10 Best & Top 5 Worst Season 3 Episodes post (yes, that's how much I love season 3!)
Anyway, this episode follows 3x19 as Mary Margaret has gone into labour and Zelena is after the baby for her time travel curse, finally explaining why she wants him/her. She does take HIM (yes, the baby is a boy) unsurprisingly, but not before forcing Emma to lip lock with Hook to get rid of her powers. But Regina manages to save the day with light magic as she chooses to be a hero and save everyone from the clutches of her sister, setting Rumple free in the process but not letting him kill her for revenge. And...wait for it...RUMPLE ASKS BELLE TO MARRY HIM! Finally I am so so SO happy that he popped the question after so much angst between them for three seasons. And does it looks like it'll carry on into season 4...yeah! Why? Well he does possibly the stupidest thing by immediately lying to her and killing Zelena because he can't get over his revenge for his son's death. I understand where he's coming from, but to lie to his future wife was what annoyed me! Anyway, in Oz, we see the classic Wizard of Oz story featuring Dorothy (Matreya Scarrwener) but with a twist in that there's no Scarecrow, Tin Man or Cowardly Lion, but rather Dorothy makes friends with the witches which makes Zelena jealous again after she thinks Dorothy will fulfill a prophecy meant for her! So she pretends to melt and drives her away by giving her the slippers to take her back to Kansas, also banishing Glinda to the Enchanted Forest.
So what did I think? Well, the flashbacks were disappointing for me as we barely got to see Oz, the pacing was slow, Dorothy barely had any character and honestly, they was just lackluster & boring! . Also, I felt like they slowed down the fast paced action packed Storybrooke scenes, which I felt were more interesting & heartwarming. Also, the cliffhanger at the end was pretty good, if a smidge predictable as there's a 2 hour finale to go and we got to see nice resolutions to some plots like the baby being born, Rumple getting his revenge, the Wizard of Oz story ending and Regina fully redeeming herlsef! Overall, it's a mixed bag, but not as mixed as episodes like 3x02 or 3x10 where there were more apparent flaws. So...will Belle & Rumple be the lucky couple having the splashy wedding, will the time travel curse go back to when Zelena had hoped, will they discover Zelena's murder & will Emma & Hook just get on with being a couple even though I hate them? Well...I know the answers to them since season 3 has ended, but join me in my review of Snow Drifts/There's No Place Like Home!
